Testimonials

I was given Chris Hammond’s name through our Church Architect. We wanted to move the altar away from the wall which meant making good the wall behind it, levelling the floor and matching in Victorian tiles, and giving the altar a new wooden top. We were very please with the job Chris and his son did and we have had many complimentary comments from our congregation.
He then did a job for me removing all the glass from my leaking cedar greenhouse, making good areas where the wood had rotted and refitting the glass. A job again I was pleased with.

We asked Hammonds to help us with an extension to our staircase which had to be stained very carefully to match the Victorian original. The attention to every detail and extreme care taken by Chris and his team meant that we now have a beautiful staircase precisely matching the rest of the house. The meticulous attention given to the work could not have been more thoughtful and conscientious. I thoroughly recommend Hammonds if you want a job done with skill and care. I look forward to the next time!

We have used Hammond Restoration on two occasions over the last year and are delighted with the work they have done for us. The first task was to replace faulty timbers in the landing of our 18th century farmhouse. After just under a year, it is almost impossible to detect the new timber from the original.

The second task was to design and fit a kitchen unit to be built around our Belfast sink, to contain shelving, in a style to match the existing furniture and in keeping with the period. We are delighted with the result, and have no hesitation in recommending Hammonds Restoration (or Hammonds Joinery, as they are now known). Not only is their work of a high standard, but we have found that they keep to promised timescales and costings, and do their best to accommodate their clients’ wishes when scheduling visits etc.

Many years ago the interior of this very ancient church was being re-ordered and we required a top class craftsman for a very important woodwork project.

Our search through English Heritage and the Diocesan Advisory Committee led us to Mr Hammond and we could not have chosen better. Recently we needed some restorative work and Mr Hammond was the obvious person for the task because of his expertise, quality and reliability.

This building is listed Grade 11* and only the best craftsmen can be used in any Structural restoration, hence our employment of Hammond’s Joinery, formally Hammond’s Restoration. I have no hesitation from first hand experience in recommending Hammond’s for any wood working task needing excellence.
